Part I.

Players Who Impressed Me.

Miami @ Clemson

6:PM Monday ESPN-U:

Miami:

Taken From 2021 Player Ratings:

40. *Brevin Jordan- H-Back, Miami, 6-3, 235, #9- He was great in this game. I expected more out of him in the passing game. King didn't throw to him as much as he should have. Jordan was getting open in pattern and he caught everything that was thrown to him.

But what really impressed me was his blocking. He reminded me of Kyle Pitts. I know, big stretch right? But Pitts is a top ten pick in this Draft, who is not just the best receiving TE in the FBS, he might be the best blocker as well. He is a true NFL Tight End that can change an offense and help his QB in more ways any other player in the Offense.

I was as impressed with Jordan's blocking in this game as I have been with Pitts. He is much thinner and listed lighter than Pitts, but he is strong, tough and nasty blocking. He might even get more push blocking than Pitts. He fights harder than Pitt, but that might just be an illusion because Pitts has better size. But I loved his fight blocking for his teammates in this game. He is a 1st Round talent.

Notes from game: Good relentless blocker. He is a light and slight H-back. But much-much stronger than his size and weight would indicate. Tough grabbing shirt blocker. Great feet, balance and strength sustaining blocks to the whistle. He has some nasty blocking as well and doesn’t mind turning it into a fight.

Terrific pass catching TE. I love his ability to get open and go and get the ball in the air. Puny DBs can’t cover him and LBs can’t stay with him. But, I was more impressed with his blocking against Clemson than his abilities as a receiver. I’m completely sold on his talents.

Nice release. Fast into his pattern and fast in pattern. Light for a tight end, but he will get bigger and should be over 240-pounds this season. Great athlete. He has heavy hands. You can see the impact that knocks D-ends off balance. You can see the impact on the body when he shoves the LB. He can develop into a top blocker as well. Read More.

#1 D'Eriq King- 5-11, 202, QB, Gr-Tr- I was very disappointed in his play. You want to compare him to Russell Wilson if you think he can play in the NFL, but played nothing like Russell Wilson at Wisconsin. He was great in every game as a senior. King wasn't even just Good in this game. He's not an NFL QB.

Short and small QB. He has to show he can play with the big boys. He is a Doug Flutie like dude. Magic with his feet. If he can beat Clemson, that would go a long way in showing me he has a chance in the NFL. But almost the entire class of Sub-6-foot QBs could not play in the NFL.

2020 (Redshirt Senior): Named one of four team captains prior to season…Made first start of Miami Hurricanes career in season opener against UAB (Sept. 10), totaling 144 passing yards and 83 rushing yards in win…Finished 16-for-24 with one passing touchdown and scored one rushing touchdown on 12-yard run…Extended own FBS record with at least one rushing score and one passing score to 16 straight games.

Clemson:

#9 Travis Etienne- RB, Clemson, 5-10, 210, 20.- Okay so this is a cheapy, like saying Dexter Lawrence played well (which I think I will do now). But he was just so damn good in this game. Best player on the field. I mean, we all knew he was good. Even my wife said during this game "that guy is fast." But, he was as good as I’ve seen in this game. He wasn’t just looking like the best RB in the FBS, he was looking like an all-time great to me.

He added to his game this season. He is much better in the passing game. Love how he runs low and fast. He half-reach out and half-dive out and snap out his hands out like Superman and just grab the bad fastball way out infront of him with impressive quicks, burst and hands, and held his balance to continue running; When I don’t think another RB in this Draft could have touched that pass way out in front of him without diving or falling down. Great receiver in the passing game with elite hands. And they throw it to him in every circumstance all over the field. Deadly on 3rd down.  Read More.

#47 James Skalski- 6’, 240, Will LB, Rs-Sr- He is force right in the middle of the line. Great instincts blitzing up the gut. He has that knack for finding the ball in the backfield when he blitzes. He is a Kamikaze blitzer, who smashes into everything, bounces off, and crashes into the ball carrier. Fun to watch. Mean. Aggressive. All out all the time. Pileup hitter. Short and light, but much stronger than he looks. Plays bigger.

Doesn’t look the part at all. He looks almost scrawny in his uniform. Like a frail little dude in the land of the Jolly Green Giants. But he is a friggin’ pinball. He just charges forward and smashes face first into everyone and everything in his way, bounces off, and instantly redirects to the ball carrier. He’s a friggin’ whirling-dervish crashing and smashing his way to the RB. And he can do the same thing in the rush and get to the QB. He is an instant special teams maven in the NFL.

Bonus: 1, *Trevor Lawrence- 6-6, 220, QB, #16.- Lawrence really impressed me in this game. He is so good that he usually just flows through games. The one game he didn’t flow through was the Championship Game last year. Nothing flowed for the Offensive in that game and he didn’t handle it well. They lost the Championship game, because he couldn’t adjust his game and play ugly.

Yesterday the Offense didn’t just not flow, it looked like a clunky old piece of shit car. Everything kept going wrong. In fact, the only piece of that piece of shit car that was working right was Etienne. He was what kept it together.

But Lawrence didn’t breakdown this time. He kept fighting, plugging, and steering the Offense. He won ugly in an ugly game, where even his OLT (who was so terribly disappointing in that game that I don’t think he is a 1st Round pick anymore, and I had him in the Top ten) was benched! His left tackle was benched and was taking a beating all game. There were turnovers and mistakes on every level by everyone. The offense looked discombobulated like in the Championship Game. But he kept it together mentally and helped lead his team to a win this time. Read More.

Florida @ A&M

6:PM Sunday SEC Channel:

Florida:

Taken From 2021 Player Ratings:

#11. Kyle Trask- QB, Florida, 6-5 239, Rs-Sr- He is so clutch this season. He tied the game in the 4th against A&M, and then drove them straight down field after his defense stop ed A&M, and scored the go ahead TD with six games to go. After Texas A&M tied it again, he hit his RB outside to get it to the 50 with less than four minutes to go. Then his RB fumble it and they bever got the ball back. Which is such a shame, because I want to see him in a two minute drill.

He still will make the dumb mistakes that marred his career up to this point, like throw across his body to the opposite side of the field into a disaster waiting to happen. But it is an aberration this season. He still will underthrow the ball terribly sometimes and put it where it can be intercepted.

#84. *Kyle Pitts- TE, Florida- 6-6, 239,- He was great in this game.

Texas A&M

Taken From 2021 Player Ratings:

#11 *Kellen Mond- 6-3, 217, QB– He was great in this Game. Trask was the hottest QB in the FBS and Mond doesn't have as many weapons are Trask. But he outplayed him in this Game. Now Trask was leading FLA down field for the go ahead score, and his WR fumbled the ball to give it back to A&M. So he didn't choke.

However, Mond was masterful in the final drive against a tougher defense. He got into position to score the winning points, while at the same time winding the clock down to nothing. It was as great clutch drive, at not just working the clock, but grinding it down to nothing so they won or went into Overtime.

He clearly took a step up in accuracy and ball placement from last season. He can put it on his slot WR’s hands in the middle of three guys with perfect placement. He even put it low so he had to go down to grab it and not get his block knocked off by an LB or two.

I thought inconsistency in his ball placement was his biggest weakness from last season that he had to overcome.

Much better job throwing it where only his guy can catch it. He will play in the Pistol sometimes. He brought A&M back against Miami at Home. They were tied in the middle of the 4th. He made a killer throw on 3rd down in the 4th against Florida with the game on the line.

Good job keeping his eyes downfield and not letting rushers bother him. He is reading and throwing quicker this season. Nice catch, one step, and throw outside. Terrific faker in options, handoffs, and play actions. He can make the great throw for the 1st, with the all-out blitz overwhelming the O-line like the tide coming in.

He is even better in the clutch. After he tied it up in the 4th and FLA went down for the go ahead TD...
