Game Two: Part I.
Bentley was terrific in
this game. He has shown that he belongs. He is a terrific athlete, who can
read it quick. Up close you can see that he is a very smart guy. When he
speaks you can see the that is a smart guy. He will have no trouble
setting up the defense. He went to Purdue, were he clearly attended
He was lining up inside at
the Mike, but also outside at OLB. "He pretty much plays one
spot," BB said. "Whatever the defense calls for, that's what he
does. He's been a four-year starter at Purdue. He's had a lot of
responsibility from DeMatha [Catholic] High School to Purdue to here. He's
always been the middle linebacker, the signal caller, the guy right in the
middle of the defense." He has impacted the game wherever he lined
Saying he is a Mike only,
is undervaluing what he did in the last two games.
He was blitzing off the
edge in the first game. He hit the QB a couple of times. He was switching
sides. Maybe that is how BB defines his Mike. He was doing everything that
Hightower did. He would be an ILB on one play, the Mike on the next, and
then outside like an edgerusher on the next.
To say that was just what
he wants his Mike to do is not particularly accurate. "He does a good
job of handling the communication and some of the adjustments that have to
be made from the center of the field," BB said. "Which that's
his position; that's part of it. He's been able to do that pretty well
since he's come here. He's still got a lot to learn. He’s got a long way
to go, but he's handled those things well." But if he considers
Hightower his Mike than is seems much more accurate.
He was not just
zone-dropping. He was not just rushing. He has shown himself to be
surprising athletic in the defense. He showed he could run deep with the
RB down the sideline. But was has really caught my eye was his knack for
getting past blocker in the passrusher. He impacted both game moving
forward in the rush. Forcing a ac ouple bad throws last week.
This week hitting the QB a
couple of times. "I'm just trying to take it one day at a time,"
Bentley said. "I feel like as a team we came out and wanted to
accomplish all of our goals and I felt like we did that today. We did
that. We played well." Then the dramatic scoop and score.
He was another great Day Three find by BB. He probably
won’t start as a rookie. Hightower with be the starter at ILB. They are
just taking it very carefully with him. They want Hightower to be ready
for the season. So there won't be a lot of minutes for Bentley when the
regular season starts. But even Hightower with have trouble keeping
Bentley off the field for very long.
A Citizen! Not a Subject!
is as Fascist does. Beware American. President Fredo is pulling the
cowardly republican Senate closer and closer to the cliff.
I. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances:
1st Amendment to the Constitution is the greatest paragraph ever written
by mankind. It is the truest diagram of how to ensure a free Country of
citizens survives. But is is also a list of what to attack when you want
to be a fascist dictator. President Jerkballs is attacking every article
in the 1st Amendment. Beware subjects, or you will be subjugated:
