2nd Quarter.

By TOM

The Pats got the ball back to start the 2nd, as Brown was brought to the locker room. The Pats went Empty, feeling  a little pressure. Brady had a great pocket, and never moved. He finally flinged it to Amendola for a First. Then the O-line held, and let Brady hit Gronk 30-yards down the seam.

They rushed back up to the line to keep the pressure on the Pitt-D. They stayed Empty. Brady threw high over the double-teamed Cooks. 2nd and 10, the went into an I. They ran play action. Brady threw a softy to Britt for his first catch as a Patriot. 3rd and 3, Empty. The O-line just held on. Brady had to shift do to pressure up the middle. Then zinged it calmly to Amendola for the 1st.

1st and 10 at the 14, it happened so fast that the Pitt-D didn't know what hit them. They went I, and ran Dion up the gut for naught. He was lucky to dance his way back to the LOS. 2nd and 10, the Pats lined up in a Big Ugly Singleback, with motion. They ran play action. Brady saw Hollister too late, but the ball bounced off his hands anyway. Then he was knocked off his feet by the DB. 3rd and 10, 4-Wide Weak shotgun. The O-line gave him a perfect pocket, and he misfired to Gronk to force the field goal. Pats-10. Pitt-10.

I really thought the Pats were going to take the lead back there. But they slowed it down a little, and the Pitt-D didn't break.

Pitt went I, as they were going to go to their other superstar, with Brown out. Bell popped up the middle and over three defenders for a nice power First. But Brown and Lee him stopped on his next run. 2nd and 9, they stayed in the run formation. Bell got outside. Butler slowed him down, and Flowers popped him out of bounds.

3rd and 3, Pitt went 3-wide shotgun. The Pats matched up in a 3-4, Roethlisberger had no pressure, even though the Pats brought six. He threw short for the First.

They lined up in a run formation again. The Pats matched up with five guys with their hands down. It scared Roethlisberger so much that he fumbled the snap and fell on it. 2nd and 12, the Pats flowed into a 4-2 with a Chung in the box, as Pitt went Shotgun. They ran a Draw. It looked like the Pats had him boxed in. But Butler spun outside and the RB saw him, and cut back up the middle for too many yards.

3rd and 2, Pitt in a 3-Wide Weak shotgun. The Pats crowded the line with five guys in a 3-4. They sent five, but got no rush at all. Roethlisberger hit Conner outside for an easy looking First.

Now over midfield, Pitt lined up in a big run formation. The Pats matched up with five guys with their hands down, and another standing up on the strongside. They sent all six. Ricky Jean-Francois rushed up field and forced Roethlisberger to shift to his right, and right into Guy. He was taken down hard by Guy, and then Ricky.

2nd and 13, they went shotgun, and the Pats went 4-2 nickel. They sent four. Roethlisberger threw underneath to James. Chung got on him like a tick on field dog. 3rd and 8, Pitt decided to throw. The Pats matched up with six guys on the line. They sent four. Wise and Flowers got pressure but couldn't stop Roethlisberger from throwing for the First.

1st and 10 at the 21, 4-Wide Strong shotgun. The Pats went 4-2 Nickel and sent four. They handed it off to Bell, and two more defenders charged. Wise, Harris, and Guy brought him down. 2nd and 6, Bell snuck on up the middle for a First. 1st and 10 at the 9, Pitt showed a passing shotgun. Pats stayed 3-4. They ran Bell. Harris burst into the backfield and slowed Bell. Then he leaped into him from behind, Guy, Roberts and Jean-François hit him in the front. 2nd and goal. They ran Brown, and Lee, Guy, Rowe, and Chung brought him down.

3rd and goal from the 4, Pitt went Empty, the Pats went into a 2-up 3-down Dime. They sent all five. Flowers had pressure, but Roethlisberger floated a softy for a TD. Pats-10. Pitt-17.
