Pats Vs Chargers: Part I.

Greetings Pats Fans,

First off I just want to thank all the fans of this site. I have been promoting my books for sale primarily on this site. As a result, I have sold almost 500 books in the past year. Thank you for your support and patronage, both are greatly appreciated. I cannot tell you how happy it made me when I read that report. So thank you Draft fans and Patriot fans alike, and mostly thank you to all the fans of my books and website worldwide.

1st Quarter.

The Pats chose to defer to start the game. Chargers lined up in a Weak formation to start. The Pats matched up in a High-less 3-4, With Van Noy on the line like Hightower would, and Harris in at right ILB like Hightower sometimes would. The Pats sent four, as Roberts blitzed. Rivers had zero pressure and hit Keenan Allen for an easy 16.

1st and 10, the Chargers lined up in a Wildcat with Rivers left way outside as the Flanker, and ignored by the Patriots defense. Which matched up in a 3-4 with a Chung in the box. They snapped the ball to Gordon. He ran straight ahead into Richards and Bademosi. The LBs went for the fake jet sweep hand off to Benjamin.

2nd and 5, the Charger lined up in a 3-Wide Singleback. The Pats matched up in a 4-2 Nickel, with a Chung in the box in front of the TE. They ran the Jet Sweep they faked with Gordon at QB. Little Benjamin took off with a lot of room outside. Flowers was the only front seven guy who read it right. He somehow got outside and escorted him out of bounds. But Benjamin still got the First.

1st and 10, Singleback. The Pats matched up in a 4-3 with five guys on the line. Rivers ran a weak play action, but it fooled the Pats rushers. Rivers waggled out to his right, and dumped the ball off to the Hunter Henry. He turned up field for a few more.

2nd and 4, the Chargers shifted in a Twin TE left Singleback. The Pats matched up in a 3-3 Nickel, with Chung in front of the TE like the 4th LB. Pats blitzed Robert up the gut again. The Chargers ran a misdirection Dive. Gordon stayed on his feet as Van Noy and Roberts spun him back and down. I thought he had it, but the refs marked him short. Home field was already affecting the Chargers.

3rd and 1, the Chargers lined up in a 3-TE Singleback. The Pats matched up in a 4-3 with six guys on the line. Brandon Oliver smashed into the pile for a First. Guy, Harris, and Roberts brought him down.

1st and 10 at the 47, the Chargers lined up in a 4-up H-back Singleback. Pats were confused, and finally lined up in a 3-3 Nickel. They ran Gordon outside. Guy and Wise slowed him at the line, forced him to bounce it outside. McCourty and Guy knocked him sidewards off his feet.

2nd and 10, the Chargers lined up in a 4-Wide Weak Shotgun. The Pats matched up in a 4-2 Nickel. Then they shifted and caused the ORT to start falsely. 2nd and 15, the Chargers shifted into a Weak formation, as the Pats matched up in a 3-3 Nickel with five guys on the line. Roberts burst through the line like thunder, and smacked Gordon down for another loss.

3rd and 17, the Chargers lined up in a 4-Wide Weak shotgun. The Pats matched up in a 3-2 Dime, with Van Noy lined up on Hunter. Wise got pressure on Rivers, but he was able to get the ball to Gates about ten yards down field. He tried to run for the First, but Harmon and Van Noy high-lowed him short.

4th and 1, the Chargers lined up and then brought the FG team in. He missed the 51-yard field goal attempt, like the Chargers were allergic to the lead.

1st and 10, the Pats lined up in a Singleback. They ran Dion outside. He tried to juke and spin away from the OLB, but he was caught. "We had a lot of production out of our running backs. You saw it," BB said. "They all had a role. They all were productive for us. They all helped us a lot running and catching, blitz pick up, kickoff return, so those guys did a great job. They did a good job for us last week and they did it again this week, too." 2nd and 10, the Pats lined up in a Trips-R Weak shotgun. They set up a screen to Cooks, and a defender jumped all over him.

3rd and 12, the Pats lined up in a 4-Wide weak shotgun. They turned a pump fake into a tricky Screen to White. He juked out a DB on the second level, but was caught by the Safety short to force the punt. The returner called for a fair catch. "We have a great special teams unit," White said. "There are a lot of different guys who can make game-changing plays. Those guys work extremely hard and they're difference makers." But Jonathon Jones jammed the Jammer into the returner, and knocked the ball out. But the ball dropped right into the Jammers hands.

1st and 10, the Chargers lined up in a Weak formation. The Pats matched up in a 4-3. They ran Gordon on a Smash. Branch jammed the ORG back, and Gordon tripped up on his ORG's foot. Flowers touched him, but that was Branch's tackle.

2nd and 9, the Chargers lined up in a 3-Wide Weak shotgun. The Pats matched up in a 3-3 Nickel with five guys on the line. They ran Gordon off tackle. "I mean, obviously Gordon is a good back. We did a bad job angle wise of sending them back into each other," McCourty said. "If we just don't let him get to the sideline, and we funnel him back into the secondary, we've got a good shot. Whatever happens up front I never worry about that. If a guy breaks out we can get him down for 15 yards max. Right there we just did bad angles where it wasn't even missed tackles. We didn't even give ourselves a chance. That's always something to watch and try to avoid that happening. It's just bad if we give it to him all on one play." He tore down the field for a terrible 97-yard touchdown.

1st and 10, Pats lined up in a 3-Wide Strong shotgun. Brady had time and threw a perfect pass to Gronk 30-yards down field, but it slipped through his hands untouched.

2nd and 10, the Pats lined up in a 4-Wide Weak shotgun. Brady had time, but then Ingram turned the corner. So he dumped it off to Dion. "We had good opportunities as running backs in the passing game today," Dion said. "Our guys definitely made a lot of plays when given the opportunity." Dion turned up field and jitterbugged for a First.

1st and 10, the Pats lined up in a Trips-Left, 4-Wide Strong shotgun. Gronk motioned in front of Brady. He blocked for Dion, But Dion was knocked down in the backfield.

2nd and 10, the Pats lined up in a Singleback. They ran play action and it stunned the LBs. Brady hit Gronk running straight down the seam. "I've just got to go out there and just be on top of my game the whole time," Gronk said. "Some plays here and there I do good and others I feel like I just don't have it for that one. I've just to play all four quarters, every play, to the max." He tried to catch it, but the pass was a few feet out in front of him.

3rd and 10, the Pats in a 3-Wide Weak shotgun. Brady hit White outside as the Chargers blitzed a couple guys that weren't blocked. "I mean, he has a unique skill," Gronk said. "Ever since he's been here I've always said I wanted his quickness and I always dream when seeing him, the way he can move side to side is just unreal. It's not surprising at all to see how he gets open on linebackers on third down. Just dump it to him and he makes guys miss. All our running backs do a great job at that. They're so quick that it's awesome. It's a big part of our game." White caught it in the flat, juked the Free Safety off his jock, and ran for the First.

1st and 10 at the 40, The Pats lined up in a 4-Wide Singleback. Brady dropped and just flipped it outside to Dion. But two LBs where there eyeing him.

2nd and 11, the Pats lined up in an I. They ran Dion on a Dive. He stopped, and threw a blitzer to the ground. Then bolted forward for a lot more than he should have. "We tried to stay patient," Dion said. "We knew what we had to do, and we were trying to hit our marks. We have room for improvement, but it's great that we got the win." Than Brady lofted a balloon down the sideline, after they hiked the ball early to get the 12 men on the field penalty.

1st and 10, the Pats lined up in a Singleback. Dion dived over the top for very little. "Well you got to give it to them, they're a good defense," Cookie Said. "As far as making it tough, sometimes we bite ourselves in the foot by not playing smart football. We got to watch it and fix our mistakes before we can do anything else." 2nd and 9, the Pats lined up in a 4-Wide Weak shotgun. Brady had to go across the field with his eyes. He finally found Cooks underneath on the opposite side.

3rd and 2, the Pats lined up in a Trips-R weak shotgun. Brady had to move out of the pocket do to pressure. He hit Amendola over the middle for a First.

1st and 10, at the 23, the Pats lined up in a Weak Formation. They ran Lewis. He hit the pile on a Smash, and then shifted inside for Seven.

2nd and 7, they ran Dion on a Dive. But he stopped. The safety smashed and grabbed him down. 3rd and 4, 2-Wide Strong shotgun. Brady threw instantly over the middle for barely a First Down at the three to Hogan.

1st and Goal from the Two, the Pats in a Goal line I. They ran play action. Brady had time. "Look, we've been working on that for 17 years," BB said about the pick that set Gronk free. "It's not a new rule. It's not a new situation. There's been some modifications in the rule over the last couple of years. We've coached through those about legal picks within a yard of the line of scrimmage and things like that. The rule has been cleaned up a little bit. I think it's been officiated well and so we've got to do what we're allowed to do and not do what we're not allowed to do. It's been coached like that for a lot of years. It'll continue to be coached like that and hopefully we can do a better job of coaching it so we can avoid those penalties." Brady finally flipped a light floater over the middle to an uncovered Gronk for as easy a TD as you will ever see. Pats-7. Chargers-7.
